McKenna: Burns Injury Not Looking Good
After a lengthy period of treatment, the 30-year-old was taken off on a stretcher after a challenge with Cody Gakpo 25 minutes into this afternoon’s match, which ended 4-1 in favor of the Premier League leaders.
In his press conference following the game, McKenna stated: “We’re crossing our fingers, but he’s not good.”
It’s something with his knee, but I’m not positive. It was a movement rather than an effect.
He is using crutches since his knee is really inflamed. He is scheduled to undergo a scan. It appears to be a serious one, but we hope it’s not as awful as it looks.
Ben Johnson took Burns’ place, who had returned to the Town starting lineup after last Sunday’s 6-0 home loss to Manchester City.
McKenna also revealed that Leif Davis, the left wing-back, was sick and did not play in the second half.
“He was sick this week,” he remarked. He wanted to try it after feeling better yesterday, but he felt ill during the game and at halftime.
As the Blues continue to treat the Sweden international’s persistent knee problem, Jens Cajuste was left out.
