Jamie Vardy grabbed the headlines after Leicester City stunned Tottenham Hotspur by beating them 2-1 on Sunday.
Vardy taunted Tottenham by reminding their supporters that they have not won a Premier League title in their history.
The Englishman also became the fifth player to be aged 37 or over and having been involved in 10 plus goals in a Premier League season.
The others are Teddy Sheringham (2003/2004), Gary Speed (2006/2007), Ryan Giggs (2011/2012) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2021/2022).
Meanwhile, Tottenham supporters booed Ange Postecoglou against Leicester for taking off Richarlison and Pape Sarr.
Jamie O’Hara calls for Ange Postecoglou’s sacking as things are well and truly going from bad to worse for him at Tottenham.
Jamie Vardy says Leicester City knew Tottenham give “space”
Tottenham fans unveiled a banner against Daniel Levy as well as it seems like several Lilywhites fans are demanding change from top to bottom.
Vardy, who captained Leicester to a much-needed victory spoke after the game.
After the contest, the 38-year-old revealed that Leicester analysed how Tottenham play and claimed that they were aware of how “open” the hosts are.
The veteran said via Premier League’s live blog: “It’s big. It stops the rot we’ve been in. The lads have battled through for the full 90 minutes, it’s credit to ourselves and the manager for the stuff on the training pitch. We’ve put that onto the pitch.”
“We look at how they play all week. We saw there is space and opportunities to get the ball forward quicker, we have to capitalise on that. You want to be the team that plays nice football but sometimes there’s not room to do that. We knuckled down, stayed together and got the big win.”
Leicester have climbed up to 17th place in the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, Tottenham could sink further down the table.
Some Tottenham players doubt Ange Postecoglou’s tactics
Some Tottenham players doubt Ange Postecoglou’s tactics as while they still back the former Celtic boss, it is believed that a few feel that Spurs do not always have to play on the front foot in some games.
Journalist Ian Ladyman stated: “Well, because they can still see signs of a really good manager in there. There’s not the toxicity around the club, that there was when they got rid of Antonio Conte, when they got rid of Jose Mourinho, famously a few days before League Cup final.”
“Those two managers have got to a point where the building was about to burn down if they didn’t get them out, in terms of the players and relationships with staff, for example.”
“And it’s not like that with Postecoglou. The players like him. The players aren’t resisting him yet. Some of the players I think do have some doubts about whether maybe occasionally they could play in a slightly more restrained manner, but overall they are supportive. And also Tottenham, I think, for once, are being smart. They look at their situation.”
Vardy’s latest admission will further make Tottenham players and fans question whether they are playing in a conducive way to get results.
