CONFIRMED: Leading garden centre company set to open huge new store at vacant site near Northampton

A leading garden centre company is set to open a huge new store at a vacant site near Northampton – with an anticipated opening date also confirmed.

Dobbies Garden Centre in Harlestone Heath, across from Harlestone Firs, closed in December as part of the company’s efforts to manage its financial challenges and restructure its national operations.

The shutdown affected 28 employees, including six full-time and 22 part-time positions. Dobbies promised to consult with those affected and redeploy them whenever possible.

Since then, the site has remained closed and vacant.

Blue Diamond, the company behind Beckworth Emporium near Sywell, is rumored to be taking over. The banner reads: “Your new garden center from the country’s number one garden center group.” Workers are seen on-site preparing the interior. Blue Diamond has been contacted for more information.

Beckworth Emporium has an outstanding reputation, with 1,328 Google reviews averaging 4.5 out of five stars.
One reviewer wrote: “Beckworth Emporium – a garden centre that integrates gourmet food, desserts, home furnishings, garden plants, and a restaurant. Every nook is filled of beautiful stuff; you can spend half a day exploring around.”

A different customer commented: “Must be one of the best garden centres for many a mile; always a pleasure and doesn’t disappoint.”

The Harlestone Firs region is undergoing major changes, including the development of 3,000 dwellings at the Dallington Grange housing estate and the North West Relief Road.
