For many years, Premier League teams have been a source of seasoned, adaptable full-backs. Naturally, the league has drawn international attention with its players, including Ben White, Trent Alexander Arnold, and Kyle Walker.
And the club owners will undoubtedly receive offers if a good full-back is offered at a low cost.
Kyle Walker-Peters, a Southampton standout, has been like that. Everton and Leicester have already expressed interest in signing him, but now Galatasaray, a Turkish powerhouse, has entered the contest.
Turkish champions emerge surprise destination for Southampton star
Recently, while speaking to Haber Sarikirmizi, journalist Kağan Dursun mentioned Galatasaray’s interest in the 27-year-old. In Dursun’s words: “Galatasaray have added 27-year-old English right-back Kyle Walker-Peters, who plays for Southampton, to their list as an alternative to the injured Emerson.”
Galatasaray’s problems with the right cover have been nothing surprising. Since full-back Serge Aurier left, the Turkish club hasn’t been able to reinforce the role properly.
Interestingly, Galatasaray is in the right problem at the right time. Their initial target Emerson’s injury has allowed them the opportunity of a lifetime to get a more versatile option, Walker-Peters in a steal deal.
It seems like Galatasaray and Southampton could reach an agreement quickly. Additionally, Walker-Peters can easily decide to join Galatasaray, who are vying for the championship, rather than stay with the Saints.
Right now, a possible agreement may satisfy all parties. That being said, Galatasaray must move quickly to get Walker-Peters if they hope to make a winter move.
I’m hoping Southampton will eventually break free from the protracted Walker-Peters drama.
