Pete Carroll may turn to a familiar figure to build out his Las Vegas Raiders roster. According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Darrell Bevell, the long-time Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator, is the most likely candidate to become Carroll’s offensive coordinator. Bevell previously worked as Carroll’s offensive coordinator in Seattle from 2011 to 2017, when they won Super Bowl XLVIII together. Bevell now serves as the Miami Dolphins’ passing game coordinator.
Matt Waldron, a former Seahawks offensive coordinator under Carroll, is also considered a backup possibility. It is probably unexpected that Carroll seemed to prioritise familiar names in his current role with the Raiders.
There has even been conjecture that he may seek a reunion with his former QB in Las Vegas. Carroll was extremely successful with the Seahawks, and if he wants to replicate that in his new role, he should look to the trusted assistants who helped him achieve that success.
The Raiders would appreciate it as well. The franchise hasn’t won a postseason game since 2002. If Carroll can lay the groundwork for something better, this hire will be a success for the company.
