Newcastle United offered a £16 million wonderkid connected to Aston Villa, and the agency explains why the transfer fell through.

According to reports, Newcastle United has been given the chance to recruit Semih Kilicsoy, a forward for Besiktas and one of Turkey’s future stars.

Kilicsoy might be offered for €25 million (about £21 million), according to a report from Caught Offside last summer. Aston Villa, Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham were among the teams that expressed interest in the September report.
Kilicsoy’s representatives are reportedly trying to locate their client a new club, according to Chronicle Live. Newcastle, a team on his desire list, is valued at £16 million, which is a little less.

The profile of Semih Kilicsoy
Kilicsoy made his debut for the Turkish national team in June 2024 at the age of 18, and he has since made four appearances. At the age-grade level, he scored 23 goals in 33 games for Turkey’s under-14 and under-21 teams.
The 19-year-old talent, who was born in Istanbul, is primarily a left-sided winger, but he can also play up front and on the other flank. Giovanni van Bronckhorst was replaced by Manchester United veteran Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager of Kilicsoy, who has a contract with Besiktas through the 2028 campaign.

Kilicsoy has made 67 appearances for Besiktas across all competitions since making his first-team debut in February 2023. He won the Turkish Cup last year and has 14 goals and 9 assists for his team.
He has participated in 28 games in four different tournaments this season and contributed to eight goals. The winger recently played in Solskjaer’s debut game as manager, helping the team overcome Athletic Club 4-1 in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday, January 22.
Last week, Solskjaer expressed his hope that he and his teammate Mustafa Erhan Hekimoglu, who has been likened to Erling Haaland, could help Kilicsoy become as “good as he could get.”

About the lost Newcastle United transfer, the agent talks
Abdukodir Khusanov was heavily linked to a deal, although Newcastle United hasn’t made any acquisitions this month. In the end, he paid almost £34 million to join Manchester City.

The Uzbek international was’very close’ to joining Newcastle prior to his transfer to the Etihad Stadium, according to his agent Gairat Khasbiullin. Ultimately, it appears that the attempt was prevented by Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Khasbiullin told Championat, “Newcastle was very close to the deal.”

“They were the last to withdraw from the race with City, but they were still among the favorites.”Financial fair play, as I understand it, also played a role. Well, they were pressed for time. They might have had more time to reach a consensus if they had made an offer sooner.

After then, Lens was under so much pressure from City that it was challenging to make a comparable bid. The fact that the French required this money also had an impact.

Khusanov came from Lens after playing 31 games for the French team. Although he was left out of the Citizens’ lineup for their 4-2 loss to PSG, he might make his debut this Saturday, January 25, against Chelsea.
