‘Ms Dai seems to have abandoned us’: Reading FC protest group puts spotlight on co-owner

Sell Before We Dai, a protest group, has targeted Dai Xiu Li, Reading Football Club’s brother and part owner.

Dai Xiu Li is the club’s minority owner and was appointed director when Dai Yongge purchased the team in 2017.

In 2014, Forbes called Dai Xui Li one of the world’s richest women, with a fortune estimated at $1.2 billion.

The Royals have been up for sale for over a year, and despite Dai Yongge’s assurance that he wants to sell the club as soon as possible, little movement has been achieved.

The complicated scenario has continued, with the club short on cash, and Dai Yongge now appears to be embroiled in a legal dispute with former Wycombe Wanderers chairman Rob Couhig, who attempted to buy Reading last year before the transaction fell through.

SBWD said on X: “Fans of rival clubs may be forgiven for believing Dai Yongge is Reading FC’s only owner.

“Let us introduce co-owner Dai Xiu Li, who also owned KSV Roeselare.”

“She reportedly withdrew financing from the Belgian club and managed its downfall. Sounds familiar, right?

“What happened next?” Unfortunately, Roeselare has gone out of business.

“Now, Ms Dai appears to have abandoned us.

“Like her brother, Mr Dai, she does not want to be in the spotlight. But when a club is under jeopardy, the perpetrators must be identified.

“Please RT and make her name known in the football world.”

Despite the Premier League’s rejection of Dai’s proposed ownership of Hull City, the EFL claimed that they had ‘no concerns to the change of control application lodged by Reading Football Club’, allowing Dai to complete his buyout in 2017.

According to reports, Dai did not pass the Premier League’s fit and suitable persons test, therefore the club elected to buy Reading, who were at the time in the Championship, rather than Hull, who were in the top division.
