Danny Rohl, Dejphon Chansiri news is huge Sheffield Wednesday boost both in January and long-term
In light of recent behind-the-scenes issues, Sheffield Wednesday fans will be delighted that Danny Rohl and Dejphon Chansiri have put their differences aside.
Alan Nixon claims that the German coach has had discussions with the chairman and owner that have settled their recent disagreements on the transfer market.
Considering how well Rohl has performed since taking over in October 2023, this is a huge boost for the Owls’ short-term and long-term health.
Having assisted in improving their poor performance last season to keep them from being relegated back to League One, the 35-year-old has shown to be a brilliant appointment.
Sheffield Wednesday have gone from strength-to-strength since, and can now even think about potentially challenging for a play-off place in the second half of this campaign.

Rohl has earned backing at Sheffield Wednesday
When Rohl became leadership of Sheffield Wednesday last season, the squad was seven points outside of safety in the Championship standings.
With just three points from 11 games, the Owls appeared all but guaranteed to be relegated.
However, Rohl managed their ascent to 20th place in the standings, ultimately putting them three points above the relegation zone.
The Yorkshire team, now ranked eleventh in the Championship, is looking up the football pyramid rather than down.
Supporters are enjoying the German’s brand of football, and it’s delivering strong results despite lacking the resources of a lot of their rivals.
On that basis, he absolutely deserves to be backed in the transfer window, with reports suggesting that signings will now be made before the 3 February deadline.
Chansiri is set to provide him with the funds to bring in players, which could have a big impact on their chances of a top six finish.
Danny Rohl’s importance to Sheffield Wednesday’s future
Rohl has clearly had a significant impact on Sheffield Wednesday.
Without him, the squad may have easily fallen into League One the previous season, which would have been disastrous after they had just recovered.
Given the minimal resources available to the club, no one could have predicted a year ago that the Owls would be truly contending for a top six finish in the Championship.
But now, their ability to continue pushing for a play-off spot could be significantly impacted by a strong January window finale.
It remains to be seen who will come in, if anyone even does, but positive reinforcements could easily be the difference between coming sixth and 10th or 11th at this level.
Furthermore, this dedication to the team’s success may persuade Rohl that Hillsborough is the ideal coaching environment for him.
Given his work, it was not surprising that the young manager was mentioned as perhaps taking over at Southampton in December.
Another possible transfer that may propel Rohl up the food chain is not far off, but making sure he has the support he needs at Sheffield Wednesday might persuade him to stay and continue developing a project there.
The club’s prospects for the long term as well as their immediate future will be greatly impacted by the events of the following two weeks.
