In the midst of uncertainty surrounding Coventry City, the club makes a’speculation’ statement on the manager
Watford’s head coach, Tom Cleverley, will lead them against Coventry City on Saturday in the Sky Bet Championship.
Following Tuesday night’s 2-1 home loss to Preston – the Hornets’ fifth loss in the past eight league games – it was claimed that Cleverley would be replaced by former Villarreal head coach Jose Rojo Martin.
However, Watford, who are seventh and a point outside the play-offs before of the weekend’s games, claim it is business as usual at Vicarage Road.
The club’s statement on X read: “Watford FC confirms Tom will be in charge for the match at Coventry City and that the speculation over his position is just that – pure speculation.”
Cleverley, a former Manchester United midfielder, took over following Valerien Ismael’s departure in March 2024, initially as a caretaker until becoming permanent.
Cleverley is a popular figure among Watford fans, having previously played for and captained the club before retiring due to injury in the summer of 2023.
Since taking over the club in 2012, Watford’s owners, the Pozzo family, have hired 19 different managers.
