Cardiff City transfer bulletin as multiple clubs want striker and star says ‘it was hard to leave’
Kion Etete is drawing attention and might go on loan from Cardiff City before the January transfer window ends.
According to Alex Crook, a transfer specialist on top talkSPORT, several League One clubs are monitoring the forward.
On X, Crook posted: “Kion Etete, a striker for #CardiffCity, is anticipated to go on loan this month. Many League
One clubs are interested.
Etete’s contract with the Bluebirds is up in six months. He joins from Tottenham in 2022. Despite their struggles at
the bottom of the table, Etete’s playing time at Cardiff City Stadium is probably going to be limited because Yousef
Salech recently joined the team for a hefty price and Calum Robinson is in goal scoring form.Get our Cardiff City

The 23-year-old has only played a few minutes in the FA Cup match against Sheffield United earlier this month and
has missed the majority of the season due to injury.
Etete’s departure would make him the second striker to leave the team this month, after Wilfried Kanga was loaned
back to Hertha.
Salech announced himself to the Bluebirds faithful with an injury-time equaliser against Millwall in midweek.
Steven Caulker, a former Bluebirds defender, too thinks Cardiff is hitting their stride at the appropriate moment.
According to Caulker, “it was really, really important [at Millwall] just to keep momentum,” as she stated on BBC
Radio Wales Breakfast.
Six games have been played without a loss, and seven if the FA Cup is taken into account. I simply believe that those
last-minute equalisers do feel like victories when the side is struggling for points at the bottom.
“I think Omer (Riza) is performing admirably. After a difficult period, he had a great start, and Cardiff appears to be
improving.
It’s Derby next up for Riza’s men, and another opportunity to move themselves out of relegation trouble. “You don’t
want to be in that relegation zone in March, you don’t want to be there in April, and you certainly don’t want to be
there May,” Caulker added.
“I think they’re full of confidence and they’ve got, let’s say, a winnable game on the weekend against Derby County,
which would actually see them start to pull away from the relegation zone [if they win]. So fingers crossed the
momentum stays with them.”
Malachi Fagan-Walcott, meanwhile, claims he is enjoying life at York City despite finding it difficult to leave Cardiff
earlier this season.
The defender scored in the midweek victory over Oldham Athletic, solidifying his position as a mainstay with the Minstermen.
Fagan-Walcott told the YorkPress: “It was, it was an easy decision for me (to join York). It was hard to leave Cardiff
but I felt as if development for me, this was the best thing for me.
Being young, I need to play games. I’ve been here previously, having done so since the start of the season, and I’ve
loved every minute of it.
“I was completely set from the start when my agency informed me that there were discussions about it. Before I
arrived, he [Callum Howe] asked whether I was going to tell them that I was always there for me.
Being fair is a luxury, and he helps me a lot. Since he has played a lot more games than I have, I can pick up on a few
small details, but he wins everything and never misses a header. He deserves a lot of credit.
