Bristol City boss frustrated with Blackburn Rovers advantage
After Blackburn Rovers were granted an additional day of recuperation prior to their match against Bristol City,
Liam Manning expressed his dissatisfaction with the scheduling.
In order to reduce travel time and give them more time between games, Rovers welcomed Coventry City at Ewood
Park on Tuesday. Early on Thursday morning, Bristol City returned after a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
Rovers have already handled this matter. Actually, they made the same weekly journey from Ashton Gate to Elland
Road at 12:30 p.m.
“It becomes challenging, but if you’re chasing the coaching going into Saturday and one day, then for me we haven’t
done the right work in the last 14 months,” Manning told Bristol Live.
“The most important lesson we learnt from tonight (Wednesday) is that, while we may teach and have game plans,
they must be supported by genuine intent, belief, energy, and positivity, which we witnessed in the second half.
“Tonight is a late night. The guys are off tomorrow [Thursday], which I believe is crucial, so we’ll return at around
three in the morning. To recuperate and prepare their bodies for tonight’s voyage, they will require the rest. We’ll be
prepared to travel on Saturday, but we’re ready to work on Friday and they obviously have the extra day on us, which
is a little annoying.”
This Saturday, Bristol City will have a lot more choices than Blackburn. The Robins left out a number of players
because of selection at Hillsborough, even though John Eustace would have about 14 senior players.
Manning said, “He’s back in contention, Marcus,” “He is a person who will also be significant to us. That’s the thing:
we have options and some depth.
“You also consider Joe Williams, who is back on track now that we can build up and who will play a significant role.
We have that, and tonight you witnessed how crucial it is to motivate others to alter the course of events in such a
constructive manner.”
