Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola singles out Nottingham Forest’s ‘elite’ quality

On Saturday afternoon, Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth will play Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

In advance of Saturday’s matchup between this season’s surprise packages, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola

has called Nottingham Forest’s away performance “ridiculous.”

Forest is now in third position in the Premier League, only behind second-place Arsenal on goal differential, after

winning seven of their past eight games and drawing the other one against league leaders Liverpool.

And Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will bid to win a fifth consecutive away league match for the first time in 31 years at

the Vitality Stadium, a feat they last achieved in the top flight in March 1989.

Iraola stated: “It’s going to be a very difficult match for us.” Bournemouth has risen to seventh place in the league

after a club-record run of ten games without a loss. quite challenging. They have seven victories and one draw with

Liverpool, in my opinion. In my opinion, they are the league’s most successful squad.

“I find their numbers absurd while I’m not at home. I believe they have won seven games. They only suffered away

losses to City and Arsenal. Therefore, if we wish to defeat them, we will need to be very, extremely, extremely good.

That’s the reality. And we can’t deceive ourselves.

“It’s not going to be easier than Chelsea away or Newcastle away. Because they [forest] are even being better away.

“Defensively they are elite. Absolutely elite. You see the goals they concede. Even when they are playing a little bit

lower, they don’t suffer. The truth is they are having amazing numbers. Every stat you check defensively they are

very good.

“They have the spirit also I suppose when you are in this kind of run, full of confidence. So we will have to be very

good, especially offensively.

“We’ll have to be clinical because the way they’ve played all the season we will not have the number of shots and

chances we’ve had other games. So we will have to be very good in front of the goal because they don’t give you a lot.”

Bournemouth’s superb form, including a 4-1 win at Newcastle last weekend, has seen Iraola linked with a move to a

so-called bigger club but the 42-year-old Spaniard is determined to keep his feet firmly on the ground.

“I think you are not as good as [people say] when you win and you are not as bad as when you lose,” he added.

“Everything is a tragedy when you lose. Everything is ideal and every choice you make is wise when you win.

“I believe that we must continue to perform as we are. There are still many games to play because the season is still

early. Right now, we’re in a good place in the rankings.

However, it can be challenging to maintain your position after you are in the top half because, let’s say, the teams

around you typically win. You must continue to perform at that level, and we will determine whether we are capable

of participating in that discussion.
