Mykolenko will want to be a part of Moyes’s efforts to revive the club’s spirit following his successful first stint, as he is ashamed by Everton’s fall. Since Everton has begun contract negotiations with Mykolenko in the hopes that the 25-year-old will extend at Goodison Park, the left-back will be thinking about his future.

Mykolenko has acknowledged that he has been “struggling” with the last several seasons and the impact they have had on him. According to the Ukrainian, “It’s mentally hard,” in an interview with BBC Total Sport Merseyside (1:22:58).”I’ve been struggling with this; it’s not easy for me to play for three years and then be in a relegation battle every year,” Mykolenko remarked.I wake up every morning worrying about it, especially in the first season, and sometimes I couldn’t sleep. “I try to help us not get into a relegation battle, so I’m trying to get better.”
