Coventry City are still hoping to wrap up a deal for Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo.
According to Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath, the Sky Blues’ negotiations have stalled due to disagreements over bonus payments and add-ons.
Matondo, 24, has seen his playing time at Ibrox limited this season, owing to injury issues.
A move away from the Scottish Premiership side could provide the Welshman with a fresh start, while a move to the Coventry Building Society Arena could be highly official.
Matondo began his professional career with Cardiff and Manchester City before joining Schalke in Germany.
During his time with the German club, he had loan spells at Stoke City and Cercle Brugge before permanently joining Ibrox in 2022.
He has had a positive impact on the Scottish team, scoring and assisting at a respectable rate, but he may now be on his way out of Glasgow.
Coventry City negotiations stall for Rabbi Matondo
Rabbi Matondo could be a good addition for Coventry City if impasse can be sorted
However, more should be done to improve their wide areas of play, and Matondo has the potential to be a serious threat in the final third.
Ibrox has been an excellent venue for the Welshman to hone his skills, and it would not be surprising if he made a positive short-term impression in the Midlands.
He may not cost too much to bring in, so this could be a good deal for Coventry.
Frank Lampard deserves the chance to make his mark on the squad, and with a somewhat quiet January transfer season so far, bringing in a player of Matondo’s calibre would be a huge boost for the former English international.
