Blackburn Rovers in talks over potential deal for 17-cap international

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Blackburn Rovers are in talks with Cesena over forward Augustus Kargbo’s potential transfer.

Blackburn Rovers are looking to strengthen their play-off campaign by adding new players this month.

John Eustsce’s team lost to Coventry City on Tuesday night, indicating a recent decline in performance. However, with the chasing pack losing opportunities to exploit, Rovers remain in the play-off spots, lying sixth after 28 games.

The general consensus is that more signings are required; otherwise, the play-off race may slip away over the course of the season.

Blackburn Rovers have been linked with several players, including Augustus Kargbo, who resurfaced on the radar earlier this month. After considering a summer deal, he is said to be still interested this month.

Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web reports that talks have resumed to bring the 25-year-old to Ewood Park. They are attempting to secure a deal with additional attacking options desired, but it remains to be seen whether Kargbo will wear blue and white by the end of the window.

His contract with Cesena, where he has played since the summer of 2023, expires in 2026.

Another attacking option

Blackburn Rovers’ Yuki Ohashi has been sidelined, leaving just Makhtar Gueye and Harry Leonard as primary possibilities.

As a result, adding another body up top would be beneficial, and Kargbo could be the guy for the job. His versatility will also be beneficial, as he can play out wide, attacking middle, and up top.

Kargbo has 17 appearances for Sierra Leone, scoring four times. This season, he has five goals and three assists in 20 games for the Serie B team, indicating a solid performance following his promotion from the Italian third tier.

Looking to return to form

Blackburn Rovers want to recover from their recent setback to Coventry City by defeating Bristol City.

The Robins have recently improved their play-off chances, including a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday after coming from behind twice.

They’ll be looking to put Rovers to the test at Ashton Gate, and recent form clearly favours the hosts. They are unbeaten in five home games, with three straight victories, while Eustace and company are winless on the road, having lost twice.
