John Eustace provides Blackburn Rovers transfer update as problems pile up

John Eustace remains hopeful that Blackburn Rovers will strengthen their team after a lack of clinical edge hurt them against Coventry City. Rovers suffered a 2-0 home defeat, their fifth in eight Championship games.

They lost all of them without scoring. They were the better team for 40 minutes on Tuesday night but failed to score. They had good chances but were not ruthless, and they eventually lost control of the game after two early goals.

That, combined with other injury issues, has heightened the need for new reinforcements to bolster the roster. Eustace was probed again about transfer activities, but he didn’t provide much new information.

“Yes, that is the club’s responsibility. “Hopefully, we can simply bring some quality players in,” he remarked. “You can see the lads’ attitudes have been another class, and we’ve put ourselves in a very strong position.

“It’s critical that we don’t get too frustrated with tonight’s result, especially with the number of injuries we’ve had. We talk about being fighters and not victims, and while we lost 2-0 tonight, if you look at the positives, I believe we should not have lost the game.

“We had five really good opportunities and didn’t take them, despite having a roster of players who battle and give their all in every game. “I’ve mentioned that previously (squad deserves help?).

I believe that everyone associated with Blackburn Rovers wishes to see two or three excellent players join the club and significantly contribute to its success. Yes, I am quite hopeful. Hopefully we can.

“I believe everyone involved would like to see some improvements with good players coming in. It’s up to the recruitment team to bring in the right players. We’ve set goals for ourselves, and maybe we’ll be able to achieve them.”

At the time of writing, there was no formal confirmation that Kyle McFadzean had joined Chesterfield. However, as far as the head coach is concerned, the transaction is final.

“From what I gather, the sale has been completed, therefore I don’t know if a statement has been issued or not. Kyle has been a great servant for us. I’ve previously spoken about him,” he said. “I didn’t want him to leave, but the lad wants to play and be closer to home.”
