Frank Lampard closing in on transfer targets to ‘thicken out’ his injury-hit Coventry City squad

Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive, with Frank Lampard providing an update on the club’s intentions for the balance of the current window.

Frank Lampard aims to strengthen Coventry City’s team, focussing on the wings.

The Sky Blues head coach is sure that the club will bring in reinforcements to help with the rigorous schedule and provide “options” and “competition” in specific areas for the balance of the season, despite many key players being out injured.

CoventryLive understands that City are considering both loan and permanent acquisitions, though Lampard is reluctant to discuss how many new players he expects to bring in. When asked if he’s any closer to signing new players during the current transfer window, Lampard replied: “We’re looking to see if we can help the squad.” I keep saying it, but this isn’t an easy window.

“I am pleased with the squad, but it is short, especially given the injuries we have had. We have a lot of games coming up during this time period, and we will most likely be without Ephron (Mason-Clark), Haji (Wright), and Ben (Sheaf), all of whom are obviously key players for us. So, if we can do it, we will, but this is not a time to be desperate. We want to be calculated and help whenever possible.”
