Woman passenger killed after ‘serious’ crash with car driver being followed by police

A vehicle failed to stop after being asked to do so by police on the A13, and was then engaged in a serious crash with another vehicle, in which a female passenger died.

A woman died in a car accident with another vehicle going on the wrong side of the road early this morning. Essex Police officers had requested a white van to stop at around 2.30am, but when it failed to do so, they followed the vehicle while remaining on the correct side of the road.

The van was then involved in a serious collision with an incoming car, in which a female passenger died despite efforts by cops and doctors on the scene.

Footage published on social media shows the van going at a high speed against oncoming traffic just before the collision.

The force stated that it has submitted itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC), which has already opened an investigation. No arrests have been confirmed.

Chief Superintendent Stuart Hooper, Essex Police gold commander, stated that shortly after 2.30 a.m. on Friday, November 25, a car failed to stop when officers requested it on the A13 in Essex.
