A Wigan borough man has been jailed for 12 years for his role in a shooting which saw a young man suffer life-threatening injuries.
The 20-year-old was shot in the chest at a property on Aspinall Crescent in Little Hulton, Salford, around 9.30 p.m. on Sunday, May 26.
Greater Manchester Police’s Challenger squad in Salford immediately commenced an investigation, with officers focused on CCTV evidence.
They were able to track down three males who were involved in the attack and set fire to a vehicle.
They also tracked down the individuals to a residence where they were coordinating their activities and discovered evidence of bogus registration plates being issued in an attempt to hide their traces.
A month after the incident, police discovered the handgun at a home in Farnworth, Bolton.
A judge at Manchester Crown Court has now sentenced the three men involved to jail.
Jacob Humphreys, 21, of Chanters Avenue in Atherton, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for wounding with intent.
James Gregory, 20, of West Way, Little Hulton, was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for wounding with intent, possessing a machete, and being involved in the supply of class B drugs. Tyler Harrison, 20, of Kent Street, Swinton, was sentenced to eight years and ten months in prison for wounding with intent, supplying class A and B drugs, money laundering, and possession with intent to supply both class A and class B drugs.
Det Insp Rebecca McGuigan of the Challenger Organised Crime and District Intelligence Unit stated, “We are extremely grateful to everyone who has worked so hard on this case.” It was a complex and fast-paced investigation, but we were able to rapidly identify and prosecute those guilty for the shooting. We are also delighted to report that the sufferer has since fully recovered.
“As well as securing custodial sentences for the men involved, we take our duty of care to the wider community very seriously and have also worked hard with our trusted partners ForHousing to secure a full closure order at the scene of the shooting in December 2024.”
