Stoke City ‘interested’ in versatile Premier League man who ticks several boxes

According to reports, Stoke City has joined the rising number of Championship teams that are interested in Jeffrey Schlupp, a versatile utility player for Crystal Palace.

The 32-year-old has already been connected to Preston North End, Millwall under Alex Neil, and Blackburn Rovers. Major League Soccer (MLS) teams like San Diego FC and Charlotte FC are reportedly fans of Schlupp.

Before the current transfer window ends, transfer specialist Pete O’Rouke has stated that Coventry, the former team of Mark Robins and Stoke, is “interested” in an Eagles player.

Schlupp has only made 16 substitute appearances this season in all competitions, including 12 in the Premier League, and his contract expires at the end of the current campaign. It is believed that Palace would probably permit the seasoned player, who assisted Leicester City in winning the Premier League in 2015–16, to depart this month.

He might agree to a settlement with Palace to join another team permanently, or he might go on loan. Since Championship clubs are permitted to select five players for a matchday squad, Stoke presently has two open loan berths.

Schlupp is a versatile player for Stoke, having played central midfield, left wing, and left back for Palace. He also brings experience to the team.

Stoke’s left-back Important Enda Stevens must be utilized sparingly as Eric Bocat recovers from a calf injury. He recently returned from a month-long stint on the sidelines due to a personal calf issue. Lynden Gooch, who has also filled in at left-back, is anticipated to return this week after missing a match with West Brom on Saturday due to injury.

Gooch’s inclusion in Stoke’s squad for their midweek trip to Stevens’ former team, Portsmouth, is still up in the air.
