After a string of injuries thrust the young player into the first squad, the adolescent seemed to enjoy a senior
cameo in the 2-0 Championship loss at Sheffield United.
Thorup is a definite fan of the 19-year-old, who only six months after moving from Nottingham County signed a
new long-term contract that will keep him at Carrow Road until possibly 2029.
But the Dane also wants to tamp down any burgeoning excitement around Mahovo.
“I will not create too many expectations about him, because he’s still very, very young, and he needs to get used to
this league, and it will probably take some time, so there will probably be mistakes along the way, but I think he’s a
definitely a player for the future.”
Mahovo was playing non league football for Boston United last season, but has the perfect role model in Kellen
Fisher, who swapped Bromley for the Canaries in 2023, and answered Thorup’s central midfield SOS at Bramall
Lane.
