NFL coaching cycle: Josh McDaniels is back in the league
We got a Josh McDaniels sighting.
And the final time to hire him, the Las Vegas Raiders, will meet him the 2025 NFL season.
According to various sources, the New England Patriots are hiring McDaniels as their offensive coordinator.
The Raiders signed McDaniels as their head coach in 2022 and he was hired October 31, 2023. McDaniels finished 9-16 as the Raiders hired coach. He did not work in the 2024 NFL season.
The Raiders will play at the Patriots in next season.
It’s hardly unexpected that McDaniels, 48, is resurfacing in New England. This will be his third tenure as their offensive coordinator.
He twice fulfilled that post under former Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick. McDaniels has spent 18 of his 23 NFL seasons with New England and he has been part of six Super Bowl titles there.
Now, he combines with new Patriots coach Mike Vrabel there. Vrabel was a player for New England for eight season with McDaniels there.
