New Blackburn McDonald’s takes shape at site of Pizza Hut
On the location of a former Pizza Hut, the new McDonald’s is beginning to take shape.
Before it was occupied, the well-known American fast-food business received planning clearance to expand its Mayson Street location, adding 100 new jobs.
Last September, the lone Pizza Hut in the area, located in the Peel Centre and Vue Cinema complex, shuttered.
The fifth McDonald’s location in Blackburn will join locations at the M65 Extra services, Burnley Road, Livesey Branch Road, and King William Street.
Since November, workers have been working hard to renovate the location, with the new restaurant expected to open to the public in early March.
The site has been completely cordoned off and work has been taking place to fit out the interior to McDonald’s standards.
The new signs including a totem with the firm’s famous golden arches have yet to go up.
The restaurant has a car park which can accommodate around thirty vehicles.
Pizza Hut closes its restaurant at Blackburn retail park
Located near the Ice Arena, across from the Matalan and Dunelm Mill stores, the restaurant is situated along one of the town’s busiest thoroughfares.
Additionally, the new restaurant will significantly benefit The IM Group Services, a retail division of Blackburn’s Adhan Properties, which is situated in Manchester and took over the space in February 2023.
The largest gym in Lancashire is also expected to open at the Peel Centre this year, following the announcement that Body Tech would do so.
