A major fire in city centre has forced the evacuation of buildings and the closure of roadways. The fire broke out in the Kard Bar poster and print shop. Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said it couldn’t confirm if anyone was still inside. According to the agency, the fire is under control, but emergency personnel will remain on the scene until the evening.
