Ipswich Town will need a lot of luck to avoid relegation from the Premier League, but according to a recent survey, they are the unluckiest team in the league. OLBG researchers developed a ‘Luck Index’ to rate all Premier League teams on a 0-100 scale based on VAR judgements, important player injuries, late goals against, and goals caused by opponent errors.
The five unluckiest teams in the top division, according to OLBG.Town are at the bottom of the index, with a score of 20.2 out of 100. (Image: Steve Waller).The Blues are the only team in the league with a Net VAR score of 0 out of 25, having been involved in some questionable decisions this season, such as Leif Davis being felled in the box at Manchester City, Jack Clarke’s reversed penalty against Everton, and Leicester’s Abdul Fatawu getting away with running through Conor Chaplin in the area. They are also the only team in the league to have scored 0 out of 25 in the category of opponent errors that resulted in goals.
Town have, of course, also battled a string of injuries to key players and endured plenty of late heartbreak in terms of goals against them.
