Watford FC plotting move for 25-year-old striker.
Watford is interested in Romanian forward Denis Dragus.
According to a report in Turkey by Fanatik, Watford has surfaced as a surprise bidder for the striker, who only joined Trabzonspor this summer. Despite Watford’s alleged interest, there has been no official approach as of yet, but it may only be a matter of time until the Hornets step in. Dragus has fallen short of expectations at the Turkish club this season, and it is believed that if an offer comes in, they will be willing to move the striker in the January transfer window. Watford are currently in the Championship play-off battle and are trying to improve their attacking line for the second half of the season.
Who is Denis Dragus?
Dragus spent five years on the books with Standard Liege in Belgium, but he was never able to secure a spot in the starting lineup, thus he went on loan to Italy and Turkey when he fell out of favour in Belgium.

His performances last season on loan for Gaziantep FK in the Turkish top division placed him on the map, as he demonstrated his ability to score double figures in a season. The Romanian scored 14 goals in 32 league appearances last season, earning a move to Trabzonspor in the summer for a reputed €1.7 million. Dragus has struggled at Trabzonspor this season, scoring only once in 13 appearances. The 25-year-old is currently injured, but considering Watford’s great interest, it seems unlikely that he will be out for long.
Dragus is versatile in that he can play on the wing or as a striker, and perhaps a new location like Vicarage Road could unlock his clear goalscoring potential.
Watford need to be smart this January if they are going to reach the play-offs
The Championship play-off race is heating up, and Watford is right in the heart of it. The Hornets are presently ninth in the rankings, but are tied on points with Middlesbrough and West Brom in seventh and sixth, respectively. Tom Cleverley has done an excellent job this season, despite his lack of managing experience, and has guaranteed that his team competes at the top of the table.
The squad undoubtedly needs additional reinforcements, but the recruitment must be strategic in order to avoid disruptions among the squad members. Dragus could be a good signing, but his goal scoring record this season raises some concerns. As previously stated, Watford has yet to make an official approach for the forward, so only time will tell whether the Hornets complete a deal.
