Middlesbrough are in advanced talks to recruit Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers on loan, according to Football Insider sources.
Boro are short on goalkeeping cover, with Sol Brynn and Seny Dieng both out, so third-choice keeper Tom Glover has had to fill in between the posts in recent weeks.
Michael Carrick, the manager of Riverside Stadium, wants to improve his goalkeeping options and is considering loaning Republic of Ireland international Travers.
This season, the 25-year-old has fallen behind loan signing Kepa Arrizabalaga in Bournemouth’s starting lineup.
However, the shot-stopper has performed admirably when called upon this season, conceding only five goals in five Premier League games and keeping one clean sheet.
He has been on the bench for all of Bournemouth’s remaining games in the 2024-25 season.
Travers has made 82 appearances for the Cherries since signing from Shamrock Rovers in 2016, the majority of which were in the Championship.

In the 2023-24 season, the goalie also spent a brief loan spell with second-tier Stoke.
His contract at Vitality Stadium extends until June 2027.
Carrick’s Middlesbrough are sixth in the Championship after losing 2-1 away to struggling Portsmouth on Saturday (18 January).
Glover has started the previous five games for injury-plagued Boro, who are now eager to rectify their goalkeeping issues before the 3 February deadline.
The Teeside club’s next match is against West Brom on Tuesday (January 21).
