Ange Postecoglou bites back at journalist in tense interview exchange
After his Spurs team lost 3-2 in the Premier League, the former Celtic manager watched as the team dropped to 15th place in the league standings.
Despite victories over Tamworth and Liverpool in cup games in between, Postecoglou’s setback at Goodison Park was their third consecutive league defeat.
After calling the loss a “familiar story” in his opening question during the post-match interview, a BBC journalist encountered a heated confrontation with Postecoglou.
Starting with “Ange, familiar story,” he said. “What are your assessments of that performance please?”
Postecoglou, obviously annoyed by the comment, asked, “Familiar story?” The reporter went on to explain: “Well in terms of defeat.”
Then Postecoglou answered: “Yeah, all right. An excellent approach to begin an interview.
“We had a difficult outcome. It goes without saying that we had trouble controlling the game in the first half.
“I made a few team adjustments that most likely didn’t assist in the end.
“I had players that were unable to capitalize on it and were having some difficulty accepting it.
“Second half the players put in the right response, credit to them but we obviously fell short.”
