Joe Taylor registers on Huddersfield Town debut in entertaining Blackpool draw
Huddersfield Town has now won 16 straight League One games.
At noon on Saturday, Huddersfield Town rallied from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw at Blackpool.
Town’s long winning streak had been threatened by goals from Rob Apter and Albie Morgan in the first half, but
goals from rookie Joe Taylor and Brodie Spencer in the first five minutes of the second half saved the Terriers a point
at Bloomfield Road.
As a result, Michael Duff’s team is now fourth in League One with 48 points from 25 games, and Town has gone 16
games without losing.
Two changes were made by head coach Duff from the team that defeated Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 the last time out.
In place of Callum Marshall and Bojan Radulovic, the squad immediately incorporated new players Taylor and Dion
Charles into the starting eleven.
With just over a minute remaining in the game, Charles got his first chance when the newcomer took aim from a
distance, but the striker’s attempt missed the mark.
Within the first ten minutes, Matty Pearson headed wide from Tom Lees’ cross, and Josh Koroma had a strike closed
down outside the box. Apter cut in from the right side and then sent a low left-footed strike past Jacob Chapman
from within the box to give the Seasiders the lead in the eleventh minute.
A lengthy stoppage followed soon after, owing to a medical emergency in the crowd, with the game getting back
underway around ten minutes later.
Ben Wiles went close for Town shortly after the half-hour mark as the midfielder fired past goalkeeper Harry Tyrer,
but Oliver Casey was there to clear the ball away.
Ollie Turton was also charged down inside the area, while Spencer did well to clear James Husband’s cross off the
line in the 43rd minute with Chapman beaten.
As injury time began, Lee Evans curled a shot wide for the home team, and shortly after, Charles had a strike charged
down at the other end.
Ashley Fletcher’s cross from the byline was parried away by Chapman, but only as far as Morgan, whose strike went
in off the crossbar despite Town’s best efforts to keep it out. This gave Blackpool a two-goal lead in the fourth minute
of stoppage time, sending the Seasiders into the break in command.
