West Brom win transfer battle with Championship rivals – Medical booked in for Monday

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports the 21-year-old will be heading to the Hawthorns this month.

A report yesterday indicated that West Brom and Preston were both in talks to sign Price from Standard de Liege. It stated he would play this weekend then head to England on Monday.

Tavolieri now reports that Price has chosen to join West Brom. He states this is because Preston have pulled out and ‘completed their transfer window.’ In other words, they won’t be signing any more players this month and so Price is free to join West Brom instead.

The final agreements between the Baggies and Standard de Liege are now being agreed. Price is set to undergo a medical with West Brom on Monday. The midfielder has already agreed personal terms with the Championship club on a long-term contract.

Tavolieri offers no information on the value of the transfer. However, the report yesterday stated it would be €2-2.5m.

That would represent a tidy profit for Standard, who signed Price on a free transfer from Everton in July 2023.
