New cafe could be coming to Upper St Giles Street in Norwich
Permission to turn 91 Upper St. Giles Street into a restaurant has been requested by Deniz Turan.
The building has been empty for a while, but it was formerly an art studio and candy store.
A cafe could be constructed in the empty building at 91 Upper St. Giles Street.According to Mr Turan’s designs, the ground floor would be converted into a cafe with 61 seats, an inside bar and a patio garden in back.
Along with timber-framed cupboards on the walls, freestanding furniture including tables, chairs, and benches would be installed.
The garden would be expanded to include plants, a toilet, wall-mounted lighting fixtures, and a retractable canopy.
Lighting, tables, and chairs would be set up outside. The proposal’s potential effects are described in a heritage statement created by agents, even though “no significant changes” are intended to the grade-II listed building.
The site’s existing structure must be preserved due to its inclusion in the Norwich City Centre Conservation Area, which means that no significant interior or exterior alterations are permitted.
By the end of February, the planning committee of the city council is probably going to make a judgement regarding the application.
