The real reason Nuno Espirito Santo wants Yoane Wissa at Nottingham Forest – it’s not just because of Taiwo Awoniyi

Given his history of scoring goals, Wissa would be Nuno Espirito Santo’s best option up front in place of Chris Wood. However, since Brentford does not want to be active in January, any contact from the Forest owner may be difficult.

But a player like Wissa, who has only seen mid-table safety with Brentford so far, would be interested in Forest given their current third-place position in the Premier League table. Many believe that Taiwo Awoniyi would be relocated from Forest if someone of Wissa’s caliber were to move in. Awoniyi has attracted the attention of West Ham, but according to one rumor, a move for Wissa would not only be to replace the Nigerian striker.

If Taiwo Awoniyi departs City Ground during the January transfer window, Nottingham Forest may consider a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, according to a report from The Telegraph. It wasn’t the only explanation given, though, that caught Forest’s attention. The source went on to say that Wissa, who “appeals to both clubs as a forward who can play all across the front three,” is another player Arsenal is considering.

Given that Wood is essentially a center striker, the current Forest team may benefit greatly from someone with Wissa’s more adaptable style. Last season, Wissa made seven appearances for Brentford on the left wing; in the seasons before Ivan Toney’s tenure at the London club, the total reached 10. Wissa’s versatility is a vital quality in contemporary football, which is why Espirito Santo and the Forest coaching staff are so eager to include him in their plans.

There are several problems at Nottingham Forest that Yoane Wissa could resolve.

Awoniyi and Wood both excel in the physical central position, but Wissa could cover the vast regions and provide the central positions a new dimension.
