Régis Le Bris makes major Enzo Le Fée claim and drops Sunderland selection hint for Burnley clash.

Sunderland’s new recruit is expected to make his debut on Friday night. Régis Le Bris has proclaimed Enzo Le Fée ready to make an immediate impact at Burnley on Friday night, but he has also hinted that he may have to start on the substitutes bench. Le Fée has been practicing with his teammates this week after signing an initial loan deal from AS Roma late last Friday night, and Sunderland’s head coach has seen enough to be confident that his match fitness is not an issue. While the French midfielder hasn’t played much for Roma recently, he has seen some action this season.

The 24-year-old is expected to be named to the squad and play his first minutes in red and white at Turf Moor, although Le Bris appears hesitant to drop any of the midfielders who have been in such excellent form this season. “I think first and foremost, he’s ready to play,” Le Bris said. “Sometimes this is not possible when signing a player because they haven’t played much or are injured, but Enzo is really fit. At the same time, we must honour the legacy. A new player can enter and declare, ‘I’m here to change everything. Here it is not possible because the identity of the team is very strong, the quality is important and he has to make the steps to connect with the team. It depends on many things, the game, the scenario, the players available and so on. He is ready and at the same he has to connect with the team, so we will see for Friday.”

Le Fée’s first training sessions have also given Le Bris hope and confidence that the acclimatisation period will be quicker than it would normally be for a player transferring to a new club, as the principles with which Sunderland play are so familiar to him from his time at Lorient. “Probably the first idea we had with Enzo was because of his understanding of how we play,” Le Bris claimed. “Signing a player from Roma is not an easy task, even though we are a large club. He wanted to play, have fun, and rekindle his connection with the game. We thought it was an excellent idea because of our common understanding.and even after two or three training sessions it is clear he understood what we we are doing here. It’s very clear for him because we played with these principles for six, seven years at Lorient.

“Our midfielders have done quite well. The goal of having one or two additional participants is to keep this level for the remaining 20 games. The final stretch of the season will be extremely intense, and we will require additional depth to maintain this level.
