Pictures as crowds attend That 70s Festival in Colne
Crowds flocked to Colne on Saturday (September 28) for a blast from the past, as a festival came to town.
Pictures show crowds enjoying That 70s Festival in the town centre.
People arrived looking stunning in their finest 70s-inspired attire, including colourful and flowery dresses, bell-
bottom pants, coats with fur trim, and eye-catching headbands.
Businesses that displayed their goods for sale at the artisan market were also invited to the event. They offered street
cuisine, jewelery, artwork, and more with a nod to the past.
The displays of vintage vehicles would have been a hit with petrolheads.
The Market Hall’s display of footage from the 1970s films was another educational aspect of the occasion. This
included some of the most iconic scenes from the films of the 1970s.
There was also a photo exhibition by Lancashire Archives at Colne Library. This showcased candid snapshots, iconic
moments, and daily life in Colne during the 70s.
From fashion to community events, this exhibition painted a vivid picture of what life was like in our town during
this unforgettable decade.
Visitors also enjoyed seeing mod bikers as they rode through the streets of Colne, bringing with them the iconic
culture of the mod movement of the era.
As if that weren’t enough, there was live music all across the town at places including Mojo’s of Colne, Boyce’s Barrel,
The Dressers, The Duke of Lancaster, and The Bees Knees. A variety of 70s hits were performed by local artists.
“We [celebrated] the decade with music from that era, vintage cars, and speciality foods all across the town centre,”
said Aneesa McGladdery, Colne BID Manager.
“This decade brought about a lot of changes in Colorado, both good and bad for some, but it was undoubtedly a
significant one for us.
“The building of the library, the market hall, and the decade Pendle Borough was formed too!”
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the partners who helped make this event possible, including
Lancashire Archives, In-Situ, Pendle Powerfest, so retro vintage market, independent Street Events, and all of our
wonderful high street businesses and pubs,” a Come To Colne spokeswoman said.
“We observed a large number of people lingering on the main street, shopping, and taking pleasure in everything we
were doing. “Come on, 2025!”
