Vitor Pereira details the exact amount of players Wolves need to sign after Newcastle defeat

Pereira has had a strong start to his career at Wolves, but the Old Gold have been outplayed by better opposition in the last two league games.

Wolves lost 3-0 to Newcastle on Wednesday night, falling back into the relegation zone.

Hwang Hee-chan received criticism for his role in the defeat, but possibly more concerningly, Pereira disclosed before the match that Mario Lemina had declined to participate, as the 31-year-old was attempting to leave Molineux.

Even though Lemina’s recent actions at Wolves have eliminated any chance of him returning, there is still a lot of work to be done during the transfer window.

Vitor Pereira wants Wolves to sign two more players

Most clubs have had a slow start to the transfer market, but Wolves did make their first acquisition in Emmanuel Agbadou.

Before Agbadou’s nerve-wracking performance against Newcastle, which was to be expected on his Premier League debut, the Ivorian center-back was thrust into the starting lineup against Bristol City.

Agbadou is expected to provide Pereira with fierce defensive competition, but it’s clear that Wolves need additional players in that position and elsewhere to turn the tide.

The 56-year-old discussed his ambitions for the remainder of the transfer window after losing to the Magpies, saying he wants to sign two more players.

“In my opinion, we need two more players,” Pereira said via the E&S. “Let’s see if it’s possible, I will try my best.”

One of those looks certain to be a midfield replacement for Lemina while the other is sure to be a centre-back, but it remains to be seen whether that is enough to keep the Old Gold up.

Wolves could sign Brighton’s Adam Webster

Wolves were ripped apart far too easily, as demonstrated by their 3-0 losses to Forest and Newcastle.

Their midfield two being overrun and their defense’s lack of mobility during transition are the main causes of this.

Once he’s established in well, Agbadou’s addition should assist a little, but Pereira might look for someone with Premier League experience.

Adam Webster, a 30-year-old center-back who has only played 104 minutes in the top division this season, is still on Wolves’ radar, according to Molineux News on Tuesday.

Jamie Carragher, who previously called Webster the best English ball-playing center-back due to his possession skills, has a high opinion of him.

In fact, they might try to recruit the 128-time Premier League player this month because the Seagulls star is sure to provide elegant defensive displays.
