Norwich City transfers: Jonathan Tomkinson joins Ross County
Norwich City centre-back Jonathan Tomkinson has completed his loan move to Scottish Premiership strugglers Ross County.
The 22-year-old departs Carrow Road six months after being sent back to the Canaries’ under-21s, having failed to satisfy head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup enough to secure a first-team berth in pre-season.
The transaction essentially ends his stint in Norfolk, with his contract up in the summer and no desire to pursue the club option to extend it by a further 12 months at present. Instead he’ll seek to obtain a long-term deal with the Staggies or elsewhere.
Tomkinson signed his first professional contract with Norwich in January 2022, making his professional debut seven months later and scored an own goal when they defeated Birmingham on penalties in the Carabao Cup.
He went on to make three professional appearances for City, spending time on loan at Stevenage and Bradford as well as playing 79 times for the club’s development teams.
County manager Don Cowie informed official club channels of the signing: “Jonathan assists us to bring competition to our defensive area.
“He arrives with solid credentials having featured frequently for Bradford City last season throughout his loan appearances. He has a tremendous presence at the back as well as being mobile too.”
