Everton agree multi-million Ernest Nuamah transfer as player talks start

Everton have struck a deal with Lyon for Ernest Nuamah, according to Fabrice Hawkins.

The RMC Sport writer said on 16 January that the Blues had negotiated a £16.8 million agreement with the French club for the Ghanaian winger.

The report adds that the Toffees are in discussions with the player and the sides are optimistic that personal terms can be achieved.

The 21-year-old has appeared 12 times in Ligue 1 so far this season and has yet to deliver a goal or an assist.

Everton need additions in winter window

David Moyes is keen for additional reinforcements in the winter transfer window as he looks to bring the Blues away from the relegation zone.

His team needs goals, with Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin notching only three so far in the Premier League this season, the latest of which came in the 1-1 draw with Fulham in October.

Nuamah contributed with four goals and three assists in 51 appearances for the French side last season but has been underperforming thus far this season in his limited chances.

However, he did score 20 goals and five assists in 49 appearances for Nordsjaelland before that transfer so the potential is there if he can recover that form.

His quickness and cunning would offer the Toffees a another dimension in attack with Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom failing to make an impression.

The Ghana international is the sort of gamble that the Goodison Park club needs to take, players with huge upside that have outstanding potential.

They should not just be aiming for an immediate effect but to future-proof the team as well to guarantee that they are in a good position in the years to come.

In other Everton news, Ian Wright has made an admission concerning the Blues choice of David Moyes.
