Packers Admit They’re ‘Concerned’ About WR Going Into Offseason
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is concerned about Romeo Doubs’ health, who suffered his second concussion this season in last week’s playoff game. Several Green Bay Packers players were injured and had to leave last week’s wild-card game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Romeo Doubs, a third-year wide receiver, was one of those players who suffered a concussion and departed the game in the third quarter. The teenage wide receiver landed hard on the turf after attempting to go up for a possible score. Given that it was Doubs’ second concussion of the season—the first occurred in Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers—it was a frightening sight. After missing the following two Green Bay games, the 24-year-old Doubs made a comeback in Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks while donning a guardian cap. Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Packers, sounded worried during his final press conference of the 2024 season on Tuesday.
Doubs and Watson were considered the Packers’ next-generation wide receivers when they were selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. But Watson has had trouble staying healthy, and in the regular-season finale, he tore his ACL, which is never ideal. Doubs has now sustained two concussions in a single season. Given that players like Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa and Browns CB Denzel Ward have recently sustained many brain injuries, concussions are nothing to play with. However, when the time comes, the Packers are hoping Watson and Doubs will fully recuperate in the offseason and be prepared for the upcoming campaign. The former fourth-round pick made a significant progress this season by recording 46 receptions (72 targets) for 601 yards and four touchdowns.
