Firefighters arrive at Harwood house fully engulfed in flames

According to Anne Arundel County fire authorities, crews arrived to find a fully engaged house fire in the Harwood area.

According to officials, firefighters got a 911 call at 7:25 a.m. Friday from a neighbour reporting a loud explosion behind their house.

According to officials, firefighters responded to a damaged single-family home on Trails End Road. The fire was brought under control in an hour, and no one was home at the time, according to officials.

According to neighbours, the man who lives on the home was attending a doctor’s visit. He is currently residing at a friend’s flat.

There are no fire hydrants in the neighbourhood, so firemen have been hauling in equipment to suck water from a pool.

“This is a non-hydrant location, which means we must install a complete water supply system. Tankers enter and dump water into the structure. “The crews did an excellent job getting that set up quickly today and getting water on the fire,” Anne Arundel County fire Capt. Jennifer Macallair told 11 News.

According to officials, workers used almost 100,000 gallons of water to suppress the fire. It took around 66 firemen one hour to extinguish the fire.

There appeared to be a debris field surrounding the house. Neighbours reported 11 News that a propane and oxygen tank had exploded. However, firefighters are still investigating what caused the incident.

The property owner, Paul Lutov, told 11 News that the man built the house himself without permits or insurance.

Lutov claimed county officials had been pressuring him to demolish the house.

“The house was one where the ‘Hoarders’ TV show would have a nice time. “So, he never threw anything away,” Lutov told 11 News. “The bank was set to foreclose around ten years ago, so he would have been homeless. So, my wife and I were in wonderful health at the time, so we decided to buy the property.

No injuries have been recorded, and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
