B B C Sports: Moyes will push Everton forward – Dyche.

Everton manager David Moyes, according to his predecessor Sean Dyche, will “push the club forward”.

Moyes was named on Saturday for his second tenure in charge, two days after Dyche was fired. Dyche took over in January 2023, guiding Everton to one spot above the Premier League relegation zone in 2023-24 and 15th last season, 14 points clear of relegation despite an eight-point deduction for breaking financial laws. Everton are currently ranked 16th in the table, one point above the bottom three. Dyche said in an external statement made through the League Managers Association: “David is a manager I have tremendous regard for, and I hope he and his staff will assist to propel the club ahead again and build on the solid foundation we have established over the last two years.

“The moment has come to leave the club, and the team is in good shape. “My part as a custodian has been played and I will forever take great pride in that.” Everton was sanctioned twice last season for financial irregularities. They were punished 10 points, reduced to six on appeal, and then two points by the Premier League. Dyche stated that he dealt with “some extremely difficult situations” during one of Everton’s “toughest periods” in history. Everton host Aston Villa in the league on Wednesday, Moyes’ first game back. From 2002 to 2013, he led Everton to nine consecutive top-eight finishes and the FA Cup final.
