To the relief of many Celtic fans the potential transfer of Kygo Furuhashi to Atlanta United is now looking ‘increasingly unlikely’.
That is Anthony Joseph’s verdict, with the Sky Sports reporter generally up to date on Celtic transfer news.
Since Christmas, there has been pretty frequent talk that Kyogo might join the MLS team; last week, the official MLS website even published a post on the actual signing before immediately deleting it and replacing it with news of the arrival of Cayman Togashi, a different Japanese forward.
Kyogo renewed his contract shortly after Brendan Rodgers returned as manager, but with his 30th birthday approaching later this month, some at Celtic may be tempted to cash in if a significant profit is offered.
Like most players at Celtic Kyogo’s form has been up and down over the previous two months, with a spectacular goal against Hibs in early December and two crucial goals away to Ross County on Saturday.
Last night at Dundee, he was quite successful from a wider right position, but as Adam Idah was replaced and Kyogo moved into the middle, the player and Celtic as a whole posed less of a threat.
