West Brom manager: New favourite emerges after Wicky breakdown today

Rene Hake has resurfaced as the front-runner to lead West Brom after talks with Raphael Wicky ended on Monday.

Even though it appeared like Wicky would be hired by The Hawthorns, negotiations abruptly broke down on January 13 when the Swiss manager failed to gather his desired coaching staff (John Percy).

As a result, Hake is now the front-runner to replace Carlos Corberan in the Black Country, with BetVictor boosting his odds straight to 2-1.

Newly out-of-work Sean Dyche is 3-1 to be appointed while Steven Schumacher is also in the running with odds of 4-1.

West Brom go back to the drawing board

Baggies supporters will be devastated by the news that a deal with Wicky has fallen through, as they finally appeared

to have a new manager after Corberan left just before Christmas. Chris Brunt and the interim staff have performed

well with the Albion thus far, and they anticipate playing a few more games as a result of this setback, but those at

The Hawthorns will be hoping that a new permanent appointment is not far off. Hake has already discussed the

position with the club, so there may be hopes that a deal could be rekindled and swiftly finalised, if that is the path

Shilen Patel wants to take (VI).

It could also make it cheaper, with Hake now seemingly one to watch after his recent exit from Manchester United.
