“The right time” – Ex-West Brom player backs Sean Dyche and Tony Mowbray in new manager hunt

Sunderland and West Brom are currently among the top six in the championship. But the Baggies currently lack a manager after Carlos Corberan left for Valencia. Under Regis Le Bris, Sunderland is still performing well in the interim. Le Bris joined the Black Cats after going four months without a regular manager. Even though it seemed like other players were the desired objectives, Le Bris eventually left Lorient to make place for him to move to Sunderland, where he has already become a fan favorite.

But the Black Cats didn’t play well, and Sunderland lost to Stoke City in the FA Cup third round last time out. However, fans would rather that the club focus on the league because Burnley will be playing them on Friday night in a tough top six fixture. Whether West Brom will have a manager in time before then is uncertain. The Baggies haven’t had a manager since Christmas Day.

Raphael Wicky to West Brom agreement fails

Alongside Sunderland, Swiss coach Raphael Wicky was mentioned in the summer. Despite not having a club, the 47-year-old has a good pedigree after a two-year stint with Young Boys that ended in March 2024. He won the Swiss Cup and the Swiss Super League in 2023.Wicky was linked to Sunderland, and it quickly became apparent that he was keen to replace Michael Beale. But after waiting, the Black Cats finally introduced Le Bris. Wicky has recently been closely linked to the West Brom role. On Monday, however, the BBC revealed that Wicky’s attempted transfer to The Hawthorns had failed because of “issues assembling the coaching staff Wicky requested.”
