Reading manager Noel Hunt can’t wait to get loanee Chem Campbell back on the pitch after announcing his return till the end of the season.
The 21-year-old scored five goals in the first half of the season and was only under contract until January, but the club announced on Friday that the former Wales teenager will stay in Berkshire until May.
Currently out injured, the wide-man has returned to the West Midlands to receive treatment from his parent club.
Hunt stated after Saturday’s FA Cup elimination to Burnley: “We got Chem [Campbell] re-signed, which we’re really happy about. I keep reiterating that he is an incredible guy and a wonderful child. We wanted him, and he’ll sprint through a brick wall, as they all do.
He made significant sacrifices to be here, which reflects on his character, therefore we are quite delighted. “We want to get him back as soon as we can, he’s had a niggle with his ankle but hopefully it clears up soon.”
Rumours of outgoings have circulated in recent days, with Harvey Knibbs and Joel Pereira reportedly leaving this month.
However, as of Saturday, Hunt had nothing to report in terms of future expenses.
