“I think it’s best” – West Brom backed to make Jed Wallace, Blackburn Rovers transfer decisio
The senior figure associated with a move away from the Black Country is club captain Jed Wallace, who has failed to break into the first squad this season, being held back by the ever-impressive Tom Fellows on the right side.
Wallace, who formerly played for Millwall, joined B71 on a free transfer in the summer of 2022. He scored six goals and assisted eight times in his first season.
Under Carlos Corberan, the 30-year-old scored five goals and provided five assists in 42 matches. However, the Baggies were eliminated from the play-offs by eventual winners Southampton.
Wallace’s form has dropped significantly this season, with no attacking contributions in 20 outings and speculation about a possible departure from the club.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Blackburn are interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp, but see Wallace as an alternative if a deal is not reached. Meanwhile, Wallace’s former employers, Portsmouth, are interested in a reunion.
In an exclusive interview with Football League World, West Brom fan pundit Callum Burgess discusses the possibility of Jed Wallace leaving the club and if the move would align with Blackburn’s playing style under John Eustace.
Burgess stated, “I believe it is best for Jed Wallace to move on in January. After his first few months at The Hawthorns, he appeared to be a great signing who was performing reasonably well, but there has been a drop-off in his current form, and Tom Fellows has more than taken over that right wing, and with him still at the club, I don’t see Wallace getting consistent minutes at Albion anytime soon.

It makes logical sense for Albion to part ways with Wallace, who has struggled in blue and white this season.
Despite initially impressing, his attacking output has just not been adequate for a promotion-contending team, and it appears that a new atmosphere may be exactly what is required to see him reproduce his earlier heroics in the Championship.
With Wallace likely to be a high earner, the Baggies cannot afford to have a player in the squad taking up such a large portion of the budget while failing to produce on the pitch, and Albion may benefit from using the funds saved by Wallace’s departure to bring in a younger and hungrier prospect to compete with Tom Fellows for a starting spot.
There are still reservations about Wallace’s ability to play at Ewood Park, given that Albion and Blackburn are in very similar places in the division, but a fresh start allows Wallace to rekindle his career and remind rivals of his abilities.
