Exclusive: Ipswich respond to Middlesbrough’s George Edmundson bid.
According to Football Insider, Ipswich Town have turned down Middlesbrough’s offer to make George Edmundson’s loan move permanent. The 27-year-old joined Boro on loan after Ipswich were promoted to the Premier League last season. He has played consistently for Michael Carrick’s side, and they have attempted to sign him permanently but have been turned down by the Tractor Boys. Edmundson has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Boro this season since signing in late August.
Prior to his departure, he played one minute in Ipswich’s 4-1 Premier League loss to Manchester City, his first debut in the top division. On Saturday (11 January), the Manchester-born ace captained Middlesbrough to a 1-0 FA Cup defeat against Blackburn.

Edmundson, a centre-back, is under contract with Ipswich until the end of the season. He has made 75 appearances for the Suffolk club since joining them from Rangers in 2021.
