Chances of Joe Gelhardt leaving Leeds United for Hull City in permanent deal revealed

Chances of Joe Gelhardt leaving Leeds United for Hull City in permanent deal revealed

After Joe Gelhardt’s loan with Leeds United expires, Hull City will not have the choice or commitment to sign him permanently.

Beren Cross claims that the forward will join the Tigers on loan with no further terms that would make the deal permanent.

Under Daniel Farke, Gelhardt has had difficulty finding playing time at Leeds. During the 2022–2023 season, he was on loan at Sunderland before.

With his most recent game for the Whites being a 1-1 draw against Norwich City in October, the 22-year-old has only made two appearances in the Championship so far this season.

Joe Gelhardt transfer latest

In January, Gelhardt is finalising a loan to Hull in an attempt to return to consistent playing time at the Championship level.

In light of the team’s relegation struggle, Ruben Selles will be eager to bolster his roster this month.

The Spaniard’s first opportunity to alter the first team lineup since taking over as manager in December is during the winter transfer window.

During his loan with Sunderland, Gelhardt made 18 appearances, contributing three goals and three assists to the Black Cats’ top six finish.

Given that the team is currently in risk of sliding into League One, Hull will be hoping he can play at a similar level.

Football League World exclusively disclosed that Luton Town and Wrexham were also interested in the player; but, after a physical on Monday, Hull is now the obvious favourite to sign him.

Hull City league position

With all three teams tied on points, Hull is currently positioned between Portsmouth and Cardiff City in 22nd place in the Championship standings.

But the Tigers are behind in the struggle at the bottom, having played one more game than the Bluebirds and twice more than Pompey.

With the aid of players like Gelhardt, Selles will try to lead the squad up the table in the second half of the campaign.

Hull’s next match is against Millwall on January 18.

Gelhardt future remains uncertain with this loan deal

Given that Farke obviously has no ambitions for Gelhardt in the team, his future at Leeds is uncertain.

Regardless of what transpires at Hull in the second half of the season, he is currently scheduled to return to Elland Road in the summer.

It is unexpected that Leeds hasn’t tried to discover an option agreement attached to this loan transfer so they can be sure they can get rid of him if the loan is approved.

On the other hand, if he plays well, his stock can be high in the transfer market and a buyer will be found without much difficulty.
