Boss holds out hope of Hedges and ACD involvement
Rovers manager John Eustace is looking forward to Amario Cozier-Duberry and Ryan Hedges rejoining the team when Portsmouth travels north on Wednesday night.
The two were both unwell and missed the team that won the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday against Middlesbrough.
Recently signed players Adam Forshaw and Dion Sanderson joined the pair when they resumed training earlier today; both players may make their debuts before the middle of the week.
Eustace told RoversTV that he believed Hedgey [Hedges] and Amario had spent some time on the grass today.
Unfortunately, they left the camp on Friday while infected with a virus that has been circulating.
“We’ll see how they respond tomorrow, but it was nice to see them both on the grass doing a little bit today.”
Since the Head Coach is still lacking some senior figures, Eustace’s options will be strengthened if the quartet is available.
Among them are Yuki Ohashi, Scott Wharton, Hayden Carter, Harry Pickering, Lewis Travis, and Arnor Sigurdsson.delined, with opportunities offered to some young starlets who were included in the matchday squad at Boro.
It was wonderful to see Harley [O’Grady-Macken], Matty [Litherland], Igor [Tyjon], and young Dunny [Isaac Dunn] make their debuts. The football club is all about it. It concerns the history of the football team that the players originate from, as well as our growth of the Academy players and the younger players.
“If you’re a kid and you’ll be given the chance, you’ll see that it’s a really exciting place to be.”
On Travis, Sigurdsson, and former Pompey loanee Carter, Eustace is still optimistic that they will return shortly.
“They’re doing rather well. Hopefully, by the end of the month, all three of them will return.
