Andy Halliday reacts to Rangers fan protests against Ibrox board

Andy Halliday thinks that Rangers supporters are perfectly entitled to demonstrate against the Ibrox boardroom.

Supporters are right to be critical of the way the Scottish team has been managed over the years, according to the former Gers star.

As the Union Bears defeated St Johnstone 3-1 on Sunday, January 12, Halliday praised them as they left Ibrox amicably in the 55th minute.

The 33-year-old spoke on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on January 13: “Being a fan or a loyal fan does not translate to agreeing and supporting absolutely everything that Rangers do.”

“You have every right to be critical in the way the club is being run, whether it be results on the pitch, how it’s being run off it, the stadium not being ready at the start of the season, change of manager every year.

“The right way to be critical is a protest. Peacefully, no violence, no trouble caused. And that’s exactly what happened.”

Rangers fans have had enough of Philippe Clement and Ibrox board

A new chairman and CEO were just recently chosen after a protracted search, and the Light Blues have been in disarray both on and off the field for months.

The fans have also been angry with Philippe Clement because of the Gers’ poor play since the season began.

Fans are baffled by the Bears’ inconsistency and are hoping for a change, even though the displays have improved recently.

The financial situation of Rangers is also not ideal, which has caused discontent among the supporters at Ibrox.

The Bears are currently 15 points behind their arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, which is embarrassing.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is under pressure.

The Glaswegian team has shown signs of life, but their record when they are away from home is startling.

Patrick Stewart and the rest of the administration are now supporting the Belgian manager, even though Clement constantly seems to be one bad outcome away from being fired.

The supporters will continue to demand that the 50-year-old head coach be replaced if he is unable to win a trophy before the conclusion of the season.
