Watch as van goes up in flames in Barnoldswick

Tina Nelson shared videos and photographs of a well-lit van on Chapel Street.

Emergency personnel descended on the area about 11.20 a.m., and residents reported explosions.

The high heat caused minor damage to an adjacent property’s glass. There were no injuries recorded.

One person stated, “There were a lot of smoke flames and small explosions.” “My dog and I were terrified inside.”

A fire department representative stated, “This incident occurred at 11.19 a.m. on Chapel Street in Barnoldswick.”

“As far as I can tell, there were no people involved. Crews utilised two breathing apparatus to put out the fire and make the area safe. The situation was then turned over to the police.”

According to a police spokeswoman, officers from Lancashire Constabulary and Lancashire Fire and Rescue responded to a vehicle fire near the junction of Chapel St and York Street in Barnoldswick at 11.20 a.m.

“A generator and gasoline cans combusted as a result of heat buildup in the van’s back induced by the warm weather.

“The incident was promptly resolved, with no members of the public in danger and only minor damage to a neighbouring property window owing to the tremendous heat.

“We would like to thank residents for remaining calm and allowing us to control the scene whilst the situation was made safe.”
